The Glenelg Tram travels from South Australia's most popular seaside destination, Glenelg, to the Adelaide City CBD via peaceful leafy suburban areas. The tram departs regularly (every 15-20 minutes) from Moseley Square, just 100 metres south-west of the Ensenada Motor Inn and Suites and travels down Jetty Road and then onto a dedicated track making the tram service fast and efficient. The tram returns to the streets upon reaching the City CBD where it travels down King William Street, stopping at Victoria Square (hop off for the Central Market), Rundle Mall (hop off for shopping) and turns onto North Terrace terminating at the Adelaide Railway Station / Casino and access to the Adelaide Oval Footbridge.
The tramline has been recently extended and now runs to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre west of the city and also travels to the East End at the eastern end of North Terrace.
Until January 2006, vintage H-class tram cars provided all services on the Glenelg tram line. Since that time, they've been joined by a fleet of modern trams that operate the tram service.
There's plenty for you to enjoy at Glenelg. The sandy beach and foreshore grass make a great place to stop for a picnic or some fish and chips. Walk south to Brighton or north to Holdfast Marina. Jetty Road is a vibrant village style shopping precinct leading to the beach. There are plenty of cafes and shops to amuse you.
For the kids (or young at heart) there is the amusement complex, The Beachouse. Get out on the water with Temptation Sailing, you can cruise with the dolphins and even swim with them! Relax outdoors in and around Moseley Square. Play frisbee or catch a glimpse of a volleyball tournament.
